France -Day Five

Today we visited the nearby village of Kaysersberg, France. Most recently known as the place where Anthony Bourdain committed suicide, I’ve visited it several times in past years, and always been happy there! We splurged on an extravagant lunch in an extravagant wine stub in that middle of the village.  The chicken we all had was the poulet de Bresse. Bresse is a region in southern Burgundy, and that’s the only place where these chicken are raised. They are raised free range under tightly controlled conditions, and account for less than .1% of all the chickens raised in France. A man from the kitchen (the chicken man?) actually brought a roasting pan to our table. It contained our two whole chickens, perfectly roasted, for us to approve before he returned them to the kitchen for plating. They were served with springtime vegetables, frites and a salad. And now I can attest to how good those chickens really are!  It was quite the chicken experience!
