Santa Fe Day Two

Today was another great day in Santa Fe!  We started early, walking to Saint Francis Cathedral Basilica.

After breakfast, we drove to Ten Thousand Waves, which is a phenomenal spa. We spent the next three hours being pampered and practicing becoming zen-like (which didn't last long for me!).

Here are some very cool rabbit sculptures on our staircase in the hotel.  They remind me of Italian Greyhounds a little!
After lunch, we went to Canyon Road, home of many of Santa Fe's art galleries.  You could really spend an entire day or more walking and looking, but we did manage to see a lot in the several hours we were there.

After a short rest at the hotel, we did some walking around the downtown area.

This is the Georgia O'Keeffe Resource Center.  We plan to visit the museum tomorrow morning.

Thanks for stopping by!  More to come!

Santa Fe Day 1

Our girls' trip started this morning at 6 a.m. when we left for the airport.  The flight to Albuquerque was short, we rented our car, and headed to Santa Fe via the Turquoise Trail. There are five of us on this trip, and we are loving the Southwestern charm!  We stopped in Madrid (pronounced Ma'dred) for lunch and a little shopping.  It reminded me a bit of Jerome, Arizona, minus Mingus Mountain!

Just a few minutes up the road, and we were winding along the Old Pecos Trail to our hotel, the lovely La Fonda. There's no place better to stay for easy accessibility to the town square, and the rooms are super nice, too!

The Indians sell their jewelry on the square, right across the street.  Cousin Missy found a bracelet with her name on it, making it the first purchase of the trip.

After a quick walk-around, we came back to the hotel for an early dinner, before heading to the Santa Fe Opera's La Traviata.  The Opera House is about seven miles from the city, with a view that you won't forget. The opera was amazing, and halfway through, it started pouring down rain.  The sides of the Opera House are open, so it was quite an experience to listen to the beautiful music and rain at the same time.  Afterwards we high-tailed it to our car, squinting through the rain, and wondering why we hadn't brought umbrellas like everyone else!

It's after midnight (RIP JJ Cale), so we're off to bed.  We're spending tomorrow morning at Ten Thousand Waves, my favorite spa.  More later!  Thanks for coming along!
