Day 3 Road Trip

This morning we drove from Livingston, Montana to Cody, Wyoming. Our destination was the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, which is comprised of five museums and one research library. It was fascinating!

After visiting the museums, we checked into our hotel, the Chamberlin Inn, for the night. It’s a small historic hotel, and we couldn’t be more pleased!

Dinner at the Irma, and I’m now back in my room and ready for a good night’s sleep!

Day 2 Road Trip

Today, we stayed in Livingston and explored the town. Drove around and looked at old houses and walked the downtown area and did some shopping. Such a great day!

Fly fishing is beyond big here. Dan Bailey’s is an incredible shop!

Another great stop was Elk River Books, an independently owned book store.

The weather itself was so lovely today. Livingston is very windy, more often than not, but at least we had sunshine all day long.

More fun shopping, plus some incredibly stunning dogs.

We stopped by a little local museum, as well.

Day 1 Road Trip

Today, Mary and I left Kalispell at 9:30 am for the much anticipated Day One of our road trip. First stop was the Cracker Barrel in Missoula (about 115 miles) for chicken and dumplings. One of my favorites, and it’s the closest one to my house! 😱

As you can see, Isadora also came along for the ride.

After that, we continued southeast for another 228 miles to the cool little town of Livingston. We took I-90 (which goes from Seattle to Boston).  Montana, due to its size,  has the largest segment of the interstate in any of the states it crosses: 552 miles. Just a little trivia, but exactly the kind of thing my dad would enjoy knowing. Oh, and he’d like that we passed over the continental divide where it was cold and snowy! Anyway, it was a gorgeous drive, and the roads were fine.

We rolled into Livingston about 4:30pm, where we will stay two nights at The Historic Murray Motel. Livingston is a fascinating little town of about 8,500 people. It’s artsy and I’ve always wanted to spend some time here. Our hotel was built in 1904 and has twenty-five rooms. Screen writer/director Sam Peckinpah lived in the hotel for the last five years of his life. Lots of guests have stayed here that you might recognize: Robert Redford and the film crews of both Yellowstone and 1883.Its quite the cozy little place, and my room is very comfy.

Livingston is surrounded by mountains.

My room has a sweet sitting area!

April 24, 2023

It’s been a long time since I blogged, but with several trips coming up, I decided it’d be a good time to start up again. I’ll be putting the links to my blog posts on Facebook and Instagram each day, so you can leave comments at the bottom of the blog posts, or on social media.

I leave tomorrow on a five-day road trip in memory of my dad. He passed away last year, and April 28th would have been his 96th birthday. I miss him every single day.  He loved a good road trip, so off I go. My friend Mary is coming along, but since she refuses to have her picture taken, don’t expect any rare sightings of her.

Dad was a major pheasant hunter back in the day, and it seems like since he died, I see pheasant things everywhere. I’m taking along my own trusty pheasant, so you will see him in photos.

Thanks for coming along with me.
