France -Day Three

This morning, we finished our time in Strasbourg. Picking up Victoria at the train station at noon, we headed over to get the rental car. Once that was accomplished, we were all set to drive south toward our destination of Saint Hippolyte, but first we stopped in Obernai for a quick bite to eat.

We visited the best place to buy gingerbread in Strasbourg, followed by a very nice Christmas shop.

Hotel Le Parc is a very cool boutique hotel and spa. We have appointments for facials in the morning.

The view from my room’s balcony:
Saint Hippolyte is a charming little village!

More tomorrow!

France - Day Two

We spent today in Strasbourg, walking around the city centre and also took a boat tour. Beautiful weather!

Here are a few photos from the cathedral.

Lots of amazing architecture here.

And some amazing food!

There’s always a good picture right around the corner!

France - Day One

The flight from Minneapolis to Paris was on time and smooth. I managed to sleep about four hours on the plane, so for an eight hour flight, not too bad!

Landing was beautiful!

I had a three hour wait for the train to Strasbourg, but it went by quickly. My traveling companions, Nancy and John, met me upon arrival and we grabbed a bite to eat at a favorite cafe. The weather is excellent, and it was nice to sit outside.

Isadora and I are fading fast, so it’s off to dreamland for us. Tomorrow, we plan to have a laidback day, enjoying Strasbourg. Night night.

Going to France

Testing out the Blogger app on my phone prior to leaving for France on May 21. I’m contemplating not taking my camera gear and photographing strictly with my new iPhone.

The trip, I’m meeting my friends Nancy and John in Strasbourg for two nights. My French daughter, Victoria will take the train up from Lyon on the third day, when we pick up our rental car and drive down to Saint Hippolyte for one night, followed by our much anticipated week in Riquewihr. After that, Victoria and I are heading to Paris for five more nights!  Last year, I missed my trip to France. Work was sucking the life out of me. What a change this year brings!  I’m retired now, and life is good!

If I take my camera gear, I’ll also need to take my laptop, and I think less will be more this time around. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions. What do you say?
